#237 altering font size

if I set to 132 column on my laptop running 1024x768 the X window is just a few characters too wide.
Have tried other fonts in the $_X_font setting in dosemu.conf, but the others seem even bigger (and) or cause screen corruption when change mode to 132 columns.
as I compile from source, is there a tweak I can make in code to size of font used ?
Or
do I need a smaller/narrower font?

If the latter any suggestions on how to go about getting or making?
