#217 Serial Port Timeout

Good Day, I am trying to run a DOS program that uses the serial port to communicate to a CNC router machine. I am using /dev/ttyS0 as the com1 port. The problem is that the program gets timeout and communication faults. Every now and then it will work and I can jog the machine X and Y axis. It also always seems to detect machine properly under the programs configuration menu. The program sets the serial port to 9600 baud N81. Are there any other parameters that can be used to help diagnose what is wrong.
