I have noticed a bug which I have attributed to Dosbox
involving Geoff Crammond's Formula One Grand Prix /
World Circuit. After a random period racing in the game
which can range from a handful of laps to the majority
of a full race distance, the sound in the game will
just completely cut-out. The only way to re-establish
it is to exit the game and restart it. Initially I
thought this may just be a problem with my system
setup. However, I have recently discovered that this
occurs under both Linux and Windows and is therefore
almost certainly a bug with the Dosbox sound engine. I
have yet to notice any other game that suffers the same
problem, although in all fairness I don't play other
games as much.
I suspect that it occurs more often if the processor is
being temporarily stressed at the time for any given
reason. However, it also occurs at other times as well.
It seems to occur more frequently on some circuits than
others, again leading me to suspect that processor load
may be involved.
Hopefully somebody will be able to fix it. It's
annoying having to re-load the game every few laps on
some tracks :)
