Would be nice if there were some improvement to the
ANSI.SYS (or even better, one of the extended spinoffs
like NNANSI) support/emulation in DOSBox for those old
text mode games that use it.
Specifically, I'm having trouble with a game called
Amulet of Yendor (
http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=3954 ). After
choosing a race, your base attribute values are
invisible. During the game, typing MAP shows a map for
only a millisecond or two and then it disappears.

The game doesn't use ansi at all.
the base attributes aren't invisible, they aren't there at
all. I'm not sure if they should be there. but they aren't
(noticed after inspecting the video memory at that location.)
I'm not sure why they are missing.

Sorry about that! I don't know how I got the idea into my
head that it used ANSI. What I do know is that it's been
almost 20 years since I've played the game, and it either
runs differently now, or this version is buggier than the
one I had back then.
It's worth noting that the game behaves exactly the same
under a WinXP command prompt, so the buggy behavior is most
likely not DOSBox's fault.
Thanks for taking the time to look into it and for posting a
reply.
