I cannot imagine a case where a block quote with inline math would be needed (or intended) by an author. Maybe this is due to my limited imagination, but however I am confident that these cases (if existend) will be rare. IMHO, the conversion of a mathblockquote to display math is "natural", i.e. follows the principle of least surprise. Günter  G.Milde web.de
