Though perhaps not very popular there is actually a reST writer
[http://www.merten-home.de/FreeSoftware/xml2rst/]. It is written in
XSLT and its input is the Docutils XML generated by `rst2xml.py` for
instance. It also handles line wrapping in decent way.
Though this is certainly not an option for interactive working with a
reST file it could be an option for an extra processing step. Of
course it reformats the whole source then which may not always be what
