another possibility would be --image-extensions, taking a
list of file extensions order by preferrence.
the use case
A document with images, that should be converted to html and latex.
the reST document has the images with path and extension for the html
When generating printable pdfs one might want to use high resolution
images. Currently one has to use the ``.. raw:: latex`` and
``.. raw:: html``. This is not as bad as it seams as for larger
documents ps/pdf image files might not be in the same directory as
online png/jpg/gif files. But to make this easier for smaller projects
a. suppress file extensions for image files in the latex writer
and let latex find the files.
b. change file extensions for image files in the latex writer, without
caring about existence.
c. replace file extensions for image files in the latex writer by
extensions of existing files. This might require image search paths
in the long run.
