I wonder if indexing of image/photo meta data would be a feature many people might like to have. The ability to index and search for image files by EXIF and/or IPTC metadata would be useful to me.
I think, the indexing of standard photo metadata is not realy useful. The additonal exif/iptc information, like description,tags,categories are more useful.

Yes, I agree. By metadata I only meant exif and iptc. With thousands of image files from multiple cameras and phones, it would be helpful to search by certain paramters like the EXIF Model, DateTimeOriginal and so on supplied by the device automatically. User entered IPTC data can be even more useful, but only if entered by the user however it is more freeform data. I believe there are 'standards' for the field names in each case. Search *.jpg where MODEL="DSC-RX100" and DateTimeOriginal between '10'01'1990' and '10011991'

Wow, great news. I've download newest version and will give it a go. Much needed with the increasing volumes of data, photos, and other documents .
