[DOC++] suggestion: replace gif by png

Hi Programmers!

I have a little suggestion for doc++ that would reduce runtime and=20
simplify the installation.
Replace the use of gif image by the png format. Advantages are:
  * png is smaller and more versatile
  * no need to install pnm/ppm-tools
  * gs can directly generate nice png files with alpha tranparency (device =

pngalpha)
  * The pngs are more readable and can thus be smaller (resfactor 1.8=20
instead of 4). This is closer to the natural text size, what leads to a=20
better layout.

The changes are rather simple:=20
1. replace all occurrences of ".gif" in all source files by ".png" except=20
where it points to something like "icon.gif"
2. change tex2gif.cc like in the appended version.

thats all.

Of course it would be nicer to switch that with a configuration option,=20
that's of course a little bit more work to do...
Please tell me if you could use my suggestions, so that I can throw away=20
my local version.
