In the configuration file of DocMGR, way after the installation, I changed to following option to:
//Use trash can instead of direct delete
define("USE_TRASH","0");
So, I assume that any action related to the trash should be hidden. However, when I log in, the trash appears instead of the documents list. In addition to that, the 'Empty Trash' action in the 'Action' menu is still present.
I can imagine that the configuration file is not taken into account except during installation. Is there any way to update the configuration with the changes made? I don't want to reinstall again if it means to lose all the data.

It checks to see if an option is enabled by seeing if it's defined or not. Try commenting the whole line out and see if that does it for you.
