Hi Quang,
Would it be possible to add a feature that would change the indexed file path directly in the search results? It could become handy, when the indexes are stored on a remote site.
The current behavior is like:
1. The server indexes the content of directory “\Data\”
2. The "client" connects to server's database (share: \Server\Share\Indexes) and sees "\Data\" path in search results. That way you just can’t open any files.
The expected behavior would be like:
1. The server indexes the content of directory “\Data\”
2. The "client" connects to server's database (share: \Server\Share\Indexes) and replaces "\Data\" with "\Server\Share\Data\" path in search results. That way the files would be now accessible.
The similar approach is used by voidtools's Everything documented in https://www.voidtools.com/support/everything/ini/ "etp_client_rewrite_patterns" and "etp_client_rewrite_substitutions"
Hi,
several reasons why this feature won't get implemented anytime soon:
1) As you know, DocFetcher is no longer being actively developed.
2) Implementing this would require some deep changes and a lot of testing.
3) It's only useful to advanced users.
Best regards
