I have some questions about PST files in Outlook 2013. I have indexed the .pst files i wanted and when i search for something i can see the results. The problem is that when i choose the message i want with double click, it does not open in Outlook 2013 which is the default program. Also the option Open is grayed out when i right click. How can i make the messages to open by default in Outlook 2013?
The second question is about the attachments of the .pst files. If i search for something in a .pst file the result may be inside an attachment of a particular message. But i cannot open the attachment, nor i can view it anywhere. I have to go to Outlook 2013 and locate the message and open the attachment. Is there any way that the program will display the attachments of a message and open them with their default program?

Neither of these two features is supported. That is, DocFetcher can neither open messages in Outlook nor open attachments. Also, there are currently no plans to add these features due to lack of time.

In Manual way, you can configure default opening feature in new email windows when you reply or forward it.
To accomplish this task, follow the instructions given below:
1. Go through Outlook File menu -> Options -> on the Mail tab
2. Scroll down & adjust “Replies and forwards” section
3. Mark the option along “open replies and forwards in a new window”
I hope, this alert would be beneficial for your daily work.

Go to File > Options and select Search in the left pane.

Next, click the Indexing Options button.

Next, on the default Index Settings tab click the Rebuild button.
Rebuild Index
Do note that while the index is being rebuilt searches probably won’t work, so just wait until the process completes. The amount of time it takes to complete varies depending on the number of emails, file size, and processing power.

You can see the status of the process updating at the top of Indexing Options window. If you have other apps running in the background, then you’ll see “Indexing speed is reduced due to user activity.”

Once the rebuilding is complete – finished!
Go back in and do some searches and see what kind of improved speed and functionality you get.

DocFetcher can search PDF attachments, but only if they're not compressed (e.g., not inside a zip archive). DocFetcher Pro can also deal with the latter, and generally has better PST/OST support, as explained on this page.
