Did you perhaps try to install DocFetcher 1.1.22 on top of an older DocFetcher version?

The error has something to do with the file JIntellitype.dll as indicated in the error report above. It first occurred in DocFetcher 1.1.20, and was supposed to be fixed in 1.1.22, but for some reason still occasionally shows up in 1.1.22.

The only explanation I can think of is that somehow the JIntellitype.dll from version 1.1.20 or 1.1.21 is still loaded into 1.1.22. But how that can happen in a clean install... no idea. The only advice I can give is to try removing and reinstalling DocFetcher 1.1.22.

To everyone affected by this bug: Please report back if removing and reinstalling the latest DocFetcher version fixes the problem. Thanks!

It did not. I even deleted the folder in program files.
I tried the portable version but I got the same issue.

@ Anonymous: Then it might perhaps help to find and move all files on the computer named "JIntellitype.dll", "JIntellitype32.dll" or "JIntellitype64.dll" while removing DocFetcher. (By "move" I mean moving it to a different location so that it can be restored later if this approach doesn't work.)

Looking at the recurring reports of this bug, I noticed that the crash always occurs with 32-bit Java, never with 64-bit Java. Therefore, if your operating system is 64-bit, I would suggest uninstalling 32-bit Java and replacing it with 64-bit Java.

Please report back if this makes the crash go away. I'm really in the dark here :-(

Can confirm that replace Java 32-bit with the latst 64-bit version solved the problem for me on Windows 10 64-bit.

When I try to do a clean first install on MacOS (by opening the .dmg file).. There is nothing happening.

Try the portable version of DocFetcher instead.

I also have this issue. MacOS Mojave tried DocFetcher 1.1.18 and 1.1.22

Also, tried on 2 windows 10 machines, last working version is 1.1.19 on those machies using the portable version.

I'd suggest moving all occurrences of any file named "JIntellitype.dll", "JIntellitype32.dll" or "JIntellitype64.dll" elsewhere and then doing a clean reinstall of the latest DocFetcher version.

How did you try to launch DocFetcher? Usually, it works like this:
              1. Mount the dmg file.
              2. Drag the DocFetcher application from inside the dmg file to your Applications folder.
              3. Double-click DocFetcher in the Applications folder.

Apart from that, it's difficult to identify the problem remotely and without any error messages. Regarding the latter, if you know how to do this, try running the file "DocFetcher.app/Contents/MacOS/DocFetcher" in a terminal. You can find the file inside the DocFetcher application bundle. If running it fails, there'll probably be at least an error message printed in the terminal, giving us a clue what's happening.

Last but not least, DocFetcher requires a Java runtime, so make sure you have the latest one installed.

OK ran it from terminal and got the following...

/Applications/DocFetcher.app/Contents/MacOS/DocFetcher: line 14: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java: No such file or directory
                logout
                Saving session...
                ...copying shared history...
                ...saving history...truncating history files...
                ...completed.
                Deleting expired sessions...none found.

So, obviously Java is the issue but I thought I had it installed. When I run java -version I get the following...

                openjdk version "11.0.1" 2018-10-16
OpenJDK Runtime Environment 18.9 (build 11.0.1+13)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM 18.9 (build 11.0.1+13, mixed mode)

I guess I have the wrong version of Java right? There are so many different flavors of Java I can never tell what I need. Any ideas?

After some digging, I found out that DocFetcher depends on an older Java version that is no longer supported by Apple. This will be addressed in the next DocFetcher release. In the meantime, to get DocFetcher up and running, you can try the following:

                  1. Open this file in a text editor: DocFetcher.app/Contents/MacOS/DocFetcher
                  2. In the last line, replace "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java" with simply "java".
                  3. Save the file and restart DocFetcher.

Now I at the command line I get...

                    /Applications/DocFetcher.app/Contents/MacOS/DocFetcher ; exit;

                    ...completed.

                    [Process completed]

I can wait for the new version.

The error message suggest that you're using an outdated DocFetcher version. Try upgrading to v1.1.22.

Double checked, it seems like it is ignoreing the change made to the java path in the DocFetcher.app.

Okay, that was enough information to nail down the problem. These modified versions of DocFetcher 1.1.22 should work (or so I hope):

                          Portable version:
                          http://docfetcher.sourceforge.net/docfetcher-1.1.22-portable.zip

                          Application bundle:
                          http://docfetcher.sourceforge.net/DocFetcher-1.1.22.dmg

These are only preliminary releases. The next official release has no release date yet.
