Firewall configurations for using DNS java as a lookup client

Sorry for a repeated questions.

Are there any best practices for how to configure firewalls to support DNS
java as a lookup client (its just try to issue some DNS queries from Java
primarily using TCP).

Would just opening the port 53 be sufficient?
