- Live Edit added, powered by jQuery.
-- added user ownership of news
-- added default master user of CMS
-- added rights to add/edit news to users level 4 and higher (power user and up)
Note: With this release, d.net gains limited multi-user capability.
Hopefully this will be the last one; a couple more bugfixes in this release.
There was a small bug in the comments module leading to inappropriate display of name input box when there shouldn't be one. Now fixed.
This is an actual release which introduces a small aesthetics tweak into the login module. There is no reason to reload the page if you want to login or register, so I added a small bit of script that does that.
I also noted that the shout and comment jscript detector was being set everytime, regardless of whether the shoutbox was even present. That was fixed too. I also moved some style information out to the main css which is an interim feature before I add the shout styles to the theme admin.... read more
I'm not winning any speed records, but features ARE being added to this thing.
Coming soon, live editing of primary content (text, news, shoutbox).
Coming even sooner, a patch for those updating from previous release to the current one. It'll be a very alpha patch as I have very few guinea pigs to test it; if something breaks, expect little support.
This one fixes some issues with comments processing and optional news box processing. No DB changes since the last release are necessary, just overwrite old files with the new release.
Added spam-link prevention.
Fixed many consistency issues with BBCode/HTML encoding in various boxes.
Fixed old "no comments appear on news" issue.
Fixed consistency with checkbox datatypes.
Lots of other improvements since last version.
No new functionality in this one, just fixes (thanks Llama and Moo).
A bug was found in the news addition process, causing sideboxes to not get added. This was fixed (thanks Dain!).
Please make sure you have the latest file...
After 4 months of losing interest, gaining it, and losing it again, the new release is here. There's been a lot of updates, most of them lost in the mists of time - although a few are included in the release notes. Here's a copy:
- Save and Save & Finish buttons on all forms (thx Mike!)
- Gallery and gallery browser fixes
- New security/global settings page (thx Moo and Llama)
- Assorted bugs tweaked.... read more
Old usability and code bugs, new bugs coming from the theme admin and recent user testing - a bunch of them have been fixed. As always, cms.damodred.net to demo, www.damodred.net to keep up with the fixes.
A plan for the next release is also posted on that page. Here's a tentative list of what's to come:
- ensure that all input boxes use the standard bbcode/html, line breaks, smileys setup.
- Navbar center/left/right, but more importantly single/random picture display.
- News picture admin of some sort.
- XML display options (separators).
- Other XML formats?
- Built-in optimizer/resizer of JPEGs for non-thumbnails.
Yes, my rabid (imaginary) fans, there will be a new, bug-fixed release tomorrow. It will address quite a few issues that Mr. Dumas has made obvious with his quite excellent testing. Here's just a few:
- dev messages removed
- picture deletion corrected
- problem with new theme creation fixed
- upload now tests for presence of GD correctly
- upload now chmods itself to 644 correctly.
And a few more, if I can get them in. There's much more still to come - for a more thorough list of fixes yet to come, consult http://www.damodred.net .
I've finally gotten some testing done and this is the result. Theme admin, new counter viewing admin, graphical navbar, bunch of bug fixes in this one. As always, please test and report bugs and suggestions.
The navbar background image works in such a way that you create a gallery first (using the "Add Gallery" dropdown) somewhere hidden - like on a separate, undisplayed page - and then LINK the navbar to that gallery. This solves a slew of problems that I won't go into, but also lets you browse your navbar background gallery as if it was a standard gallery. :) ... read more
I am hard at work making the new navbar/theme admin. They ended up sharing so much in common, they got lumped into one admin screen. It's a biggun, but hopefully still usable.
Should have a new version up by end of this week, incorporating this and other updates. Come to think of it... this will be the release comprising all of the components I've wanted from the start of the project!
Not bad.
Since the last build I've killed some bugs, streamlined some controls, and added a few features. I am now at a point where I can release a new build very, very soon. Upcoming are two major changes:
- ability to make a page active without it showing up in the navbar - useful for articles, multiple galleries, what have you
- ability to edit basic theme settings from the admin.
I've decided to start naming my releases by dates - it seems simpler and more intuitive as to "when" exactly a release occurred.
This new release has built-in counters, some bugfixes related to the delete_() function error and many, many others. It also has a revamped installer (and a little prettier, too) as well as security not reliant on .htaccess functions. The installer now truly takes in 5 form fields and sets up the site 100% ready to go. This is what I've been aiming for from the start.... read more
I have created the first Add-On module, an XML-driven feed for PlanetSide players. The important part is not what it is, but the fact that it is the first add-on. This will hopefully give future developers, should I ever get any, the idea of what needs to be done to create new modules!
It is very easy, and hopefully this module shows that. Enjoy :)
The line reading:
"upload all the files except the /help directory"
should read:
"upload all of the files."
You will need the install.php in the /help directory to install your CMS; delete it immediately after installing (that part is still right).
The install.txt file has been updated in the archive.
After over 6 months of development I am quite proud to say that the first publicly functional (the previous versions had to be hacked to work properly) version of the D.Net CMS is available for use.
What is it? It is a PHP & mySQL driven Content Management System that aims to not only be far more intuitive and usable than any other CMS out there, but is also easily moddable and themable, being completely table-free (CSS-based).... read more
With the gallery complete (barring a few presentational tweaks for full-sized image browsing), only the installer remains. I will be uploading a raw version of the CMS shortly as it is feature complete (at least the features I wanted at first) along with instructions on how to install for users familiar with FTP and phpMyAdmin - that version will be available while I work on the installer.
As a bonus, 4 or 5 themes (navy blue, green, purple, silver and the default black/white) will be available as well; all kudos go to Irate Customer for the creation of those. They can be previewed at http://www.damodred.net, the informal home of the CMS project.... read more
After a long break, I return with some new code. The gallery barebones model is now implemented; the POTD (picture of the moment, random) and MEDIA (vertical list of media, latest first) modes are working, the gallery proper is still untested.
Lots more to do, like deletion, browsing in admin mode (so you can browse and update descriptions or titles, or delete), comments, titles, descriptions...all sorts of gallery proper stuff. But if you just need a POTD or a scroller, it's done.... read more
A few bugfixes were made, and progress on a gallery plugin has been started. Following that, an installer will be created and the project files released for testing with some warnings to users about the hazards of beta software etc. :)
The gallery will make my initial desired feature set complete.
I have updated the demo with the latest version of the CMS. All sorts of new stuff is available, from picture upload in news, to smileys, to BBCode, to a bunch of assorted fixes. I've created the referrer box as well.
The demo is located at http://cms.damodred.net - NOT my SF page. Go and break it - just be sure to report bugs in the SourceForge bug list. It is indeed fully open to the public.
I have made the comments text editable via the comments admin, put in link "title" tag descriptions and solved the ' " & problem resulting from using those symbols within a title tag, and made the image uploader check the global settings for preset thumbnail width. Also, if the image uploaded is smaller, no resize will take place.
I am still trying to work out a viable alternative for image display in news. I really do not want to use tables, but the CSS BOX model is seriously broken in IE. I might have to put in browser detection, blah. Still thinking about this.... read more
All bugs/features I'm aware of and have planned should now be logged, even if a few are in a very rudimentary fashion. Some are one-line fixes, some small projects, some on-going issues, so they might hang around for a while. But this should take care of anyone discovering new bugs/requestin features and wondering if they've been logged.
