Delete Key does not work for deleting songs or albums, nor does the menu option.

Must use the CtL key to delete songs, playlists, or albums.

If you wish to have just this option and not implement the ^X or menu options for deleting the albums, songs and playlists, that is probably ok.

I understand your reasoning for not allowing cut from menu option.

It seems that "Backspace" is probably what your DEL key is sending me. There is also the the possibility that FN-Delete will do the right thing for you.

So, should I support "Backspace" for the Mac?

The DELETE (i.e, backspace) key on the Macintosh works fine for editing purposes.

If I wish to delete a song or playlist, I use the control key while on the selected song or playlist name which will bring up the contextual menu option to remove a song or playlist. I believe this is the same as the right click for a PC mouse.

Not sure it is necessary that we have the option to use the DELETE to remove a song or playlist as long as the method above is clearly documented for the users.
