Hello lurkers, This list existed for over eight years now (the first message in the archive that I see is dated July 2002, though I remember it being active before that). Conversations were great, and the value they brought to project development was tremendous. However, over the years gremlins started to settle in - most notably, though in no particular order: - inadequate spam control; - poor article access from the Web (we here may not care, but there's a lot of folks "just looking"; - poor delivery times; - The deal breaker, poor archive searchability - search engines are useless against archives stored at SourceForge. This cannot be tolerated today, when the search is the most important way for people to come across new information. Considering these, I have made a difficult decision to move the mailing list to Google hosting. The new mailing list home will be at: http://groups.google.com/group/home-climate-control (Web) hom...@go... (email delivery) Note that I have not converted your subscription. I've been considering performing mass subscriber transition, but decided against it to respect your opinion. Hence, here's what I'm gonna do: - I will wait a week (till Monday the 16th of August for those on a weekly digest), then perform mass subscription for all people already subscribed to this list - UNLESS YOU CONTACT ME OFFLINE and ask not to do it; - I will appreciate, though, if you could subscribe yourself - now is a good time to change the effective subscription address without losing anything important; - I will *not* delete this list, and will not even think of deleting the archive - though difficult to digest, it's still there; - I *will* respond to messages to this list, but would strongly discourage posting to it; - In fact, a copy of this message will be posted to the new list, so you can reply to it there, should you want to go through a hassle of subscribing to the group before the mass transition. For all practical intents and purposes, hom...@go... *is* the new diy...@li..., effective immediately. Now, can someone tell me how do we best utilize features available at new hosting, such as files, pages, bells and whistles? --vt |
