Dear all, =20 We have opened the new site for Dixie. Here I want to thank my friend=20 Andreas Kneiseler for making this possible. He is running the site and=20 he has installed everything what is needed for it. =20 If you visit the site, you will see that it is not filled with data yet. This is what we have to do next, and Andy and me are going to do it as=20 soon as we find some information that has to be published there. We will try to make better manual and put it there. We will publish all news=20 about Dixie and everything there. Only download section will stay at=20 Sourceforge. =20 There is a forum also available. We welcome you to post your suggestions there, or anything regarding Dixie that you want to share with other=20 users. If you want to contribute to the site itself, you are welcome also. =20 The addresses are: http://dixie.kneiseler.org/ http://dixie-forum.kneiseler.org/ =20 Best regards! =20 Tomica Crnek =20 =20 |

Hi Vanessa, This 'master' flag will be used to permit one user to change global=20 Dixie configuration. But, sorry, it is not implemented yet. What it does now is only that it controls that you have to be master user to be able=20 to manage other admins. I will do the rest soon, and I will add few other flags, so you can=20 control your admins who can do what. Flags will be like 'admindns',=20 'adminhosts', adminsubnets' ... Regards! Hi, I've just installed Dixie and i have some questions. I see that i can create several admin users. If i want, i can check off or not the option 'master'. So what are the differences between a master user and a simple user ? The only difference i see is that a simple user can't create new account. Is that all ? Then, i want to define a sort of GPO which permit to manage the rights on DNS or DHCP server (ex: this user can only modify this zone). Is Dixie include this function ? Well... i wish you'll understand my english :D Bye, Vanessa Moussali. |

Hi @all,
a few things where added in the past:
1. You can add (like at the DNS-Section) a local dhcpd.config file (example
/etc/dhcpd.conf.include) it'll be included at the near top of dhcpd.conf.
It's for Admins, who want to declare some standard things here like
PXE-Space etc. This can be done for each DHCP-Server (Main and/or failover)
2. When you generate a DHCPD-Group, you can tell here what file the client
should boot, the TFTP-Server (if not local) and TFTP root-path.
sincerly

Dixie will not support XML based database any more. From now on, we will make all corrections and new code only for MySQL and other databases which Dixie is going to support. In the following weeks you will find both XML and SQL code if you are synchronizing via CVS. Next Dixie release will be without XML. So, if you plan to upgrade to future releases, please be ready and fill the data from XML to SQL database prior to upgrading. The tool for this is available in SQL Admin section in current Dixie version. Or you may do it manually. You may find the structure definitions for the tables in template directory. =20 Tomica |

Hi, I think, the Mozilla & Firefox Problems should be solved now. A couple files where Updated in the CVS. Other Problems that occured when you install the first time dixie, try to set under /etc/php.ini the following values: display_errors = Off html_errors = Off register_globals = On since I have a couple Linux-Systems running and I had to Install dixie for another side, I went in trouble too. So I did a diff, to the original installed php.ini to the one I modified before to get dixie runnig, I thought you may be interessted in the changes I've done to get dixie running. Since you are the one who installed dixie, I assume you are the Admin fo the System, so it shouldn't be difficult, to do the Changes. Don't forget to restart the Web server, so the changes are recognized to the web-server. To get dixie runnig with mysql and it's running at the same server, you can close for security reasons the IP-Port and acceess mysql through unix-sockets (localhost). It works like a charm. Another thing I would like to mention is, if you are starting this project and don't have running a DNS-System at this time, don't get confused, when dixie needs a long time to go through the APPLY-Sections, that is normal. What I mean by long is about 40 seconds up to a minute or two. And please do what tcrnek wrote at the top, wait until you can see the whole page not only the first 3 entries, if you stop the process here, you will run in trouble, that your System tells you, you ar still working at this step and break the operation. As soon as you have your DNS up and running, you'll think, dixie is flying. Sincerly Andy |

Hi,
it is realy browser sensible, as I wrote before, I'm working at a couple =
of=20
diffs (right now I enden with edithost.php, editsubnet.php, editzone.php,=
=20
editglobens.php)
and there are a couple more to work on, if you would like to tesst the=20
diffs, let me know, I'll post them directly to you, because the maillingl=
ist=20
will cripple the format and the patch utils may complain about it.
And if you realy don't have a Windows-Station you will run definitely in=20
Problems, I have at my site, Windows and Linux/Unix Stations.
We are runnig here IR at MS, Mozilla at MS and Mozilla at Linux, the firs=
t=20
time I thought, the Problems are version depending for Mozilla, so I went=
=20
ahead and downloaded the newest version, with no success. Than I took a l=
ook=20
at the html-output and tried to remember the syntax of those tags, today=20
most of us are using Visual-Editors to work with html-pages, so you ain't=
=20
thinking about such a little thing. But as I saw the select tags I found=20
out, that there is someting missing.
Normaly a select statement with noting selected shoul look like this:
<select name=3D"xyz">
<option value=3D"abc">abc</option>
<option value=3D"def">def</option>
<option value=3D"ghi">ghi</option>
</select>
But if you would like to let the User know, that there is already an Opti=
on=20
preselected, the construct needs to look like this:
<select name=3D"xyz">
<option value=3D"abc">abc</option>
<option value=3D"def" selected>def</option>
<option value=3D"ghi">ghi</option>
</select>
And that thing is missing in all scripts, whre we need to use pulldown=20
menus. Please don't ask me why the IE is doing the right thing, but i kno=
w=20
for sure,
Mozilla like it the only the right way (the last Construct).
As I said, in a couple scripts, Tomica isn't reading all Options from a=20
database (mysql or xml), and he coded this stuff with static=20
print-statements,
mixed ones are there also, so I had to create array and put in what was=20
defined in the databases and what was written as static print statements.
If you like to test it, I'll will send per email the diffs !!!
Sincerly Andy

Btw, my problem about messages like "Warning: reset(): Passed variable is=

Also as I have no Windows station here, I could not test how much the

Hi everyone here, I'm trying to test the viability of dixie for my company and I'm experiencing some disagreement with the version 1.4.6 (I haven't test precedent versions). I have a lot of errors with passed argument between pages. A first example if when I create a new subnet, all seem correct, and I see a message "Added subnet: subnet1", an entry in database/subnets.xml is created but all fileds are empty. Also, I often get errors like this : Warning: reset(): Passed variable is not an array or object in /usr/local/dixie/htdocs/common.php on line 1514 Warning: Variable passed to each() is not an array or object in /usr/local/dixie/htdocs/common.php on line 1515 LOC: ---- or when clicking on "Pick an IP": Warning: reset(): Passed variable is not an array or object in /usr/local/dixie/htdocs/ippick.php on line 159 Warning: Variable passed to each() is not an array or object in /usr/local/dixie/htdocs/ippick.php on line 160 Warning: reset(): Passed variable is not an array or object in /usr/local/dixie/htdocs/ippick.php on line 189 Warning: Variable passed to each() is not an array or object in /usr/local/dixie/htdocs/ippick.php on line 190 This happen in almost all pages. I think this is linked to the way parameters are passed through pages, but I couldn't find exactly what is the problem. Notice that I also had to modify the php.ini config file to change the value of register_globals to On (I haven't seen it anywhere in the installation doc). When it was to Off, In every page that permit to enter a new object, the name field wasn't editable which is a big handicap for adding new object. This was due to the 'action' parameter which is pass through a POST method and assigned with the old PHP way '$action' instead of the new correct way $_POST[action]. Btw, I'm working on Suse Linux 9.3, kernel 2.6.11, apache 2.0.53, php 4.3.10. I use the xml basic files for database Another small remark is that writing comments, functions and variables names in an eastern europe language (I supose) is a bit difficult for global reading and conprehenssion of the code for other native language speaker... Thanks, Jean-Michel. |
