What is the DistrOS Multiboot System?

The DistrOS Multiboot System is a suite of projects which are used together to create multiboot installations on usb keys, hard drives, and of virtual machines. The projects which comprise the DistrOS Multiboot suite at this time are:

DistrOS Meta4s, the equivalent of the DistrOS repository. http://meta4s.sf.net

DistrOS /boot/horn, the "portable" version of DistrOS that can be installed and used with most linux distros. This version formerly had ISO images based on TinyCore Linux, but basically installs in /boot/horn and has no specific OS requirement. However, I found TinyCore lacking in some crucial respects and decided it would be easier to build my own ISO than to work with them. The ISO Images currently on this project will be removed soon, as they are basically useless at this point anyway based on changes made for the alpha release coming up. http://boothorn.sf.net

DistrOS Grub Tint, an elf binary version of Tint is not Tetris, a tetris like game which runs directly from a bootloader, compiled originally for use with the Distros Multiboot System. http://grubtint.sf.net/

and finally DistrOS Linux, which brings it all together. This project will be the home of the new installer and livecd ISO created with the tools at Linux from Scratch. This will be a BusyBox based distro which is built in the spirit of Dave Cinege's Linux Router Project during the time Dave was actually working on it and releasing it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_Router_Project). I used LRP extensively and grew very fond of it. The DistrOD Linux live ISO is mostly for installation of DistrOS, and will have all the tools necessary to manage the multiboot setups on USB keys and HDDs that DistrOS creates. In the future DistrOS Linux will also act as a bare metal virtual machine host if desired via modular extensions or packages. http://distroslinux.sf.net
