No ISO yet, instead I rewrote and simplified distros app and it is easily installed on almost any current distro now in the /boot/horn dierctory, assuming it is on a separate partition. Alternatively you can use a usb key to install it build a custom multiboot usb key.
The tarball and install instructions are at http://sourceforge.net/projects/boothorn/files/
The new installer will have the following naming convention:
distros-<slitaz iso name without extension>-<installer iso version>.iso
e.g.
distros-slitaz-3.0-base-0.1.iso
I will eventually provide installers in lots of slitaz flavors which will be the same as the originals except for the super minor changes used to add DistrOS compatibility.
The tinycrap image is going into the waste basket. a SliTaz (http://slitaz.org) install image is forthcoming
In some respects DistrOS is a meta-installer. Metadata (atoms) is put together into .distros and .meta4 (covalently bonded molecules) which, when in the presence of a catalyst (the distros app) attract another structure (the bootable image) to form the structure (a system bootable from the image).
The distributions that comprise the Meta4s catalog could be described similarly. You can combine any of those "molecules" to create your own USB key or system boot menu as you wish. You are your own alchemist, and there are few boundaries.... read more
the piece hashes are done for the DistrOS Meta4s meta-repository system. I'll get this image fixed up here and and make the tarballs, then all I have to do is document how to use it, and it will be live.
The final tiny core based install image, pre-alpha3 will be released tomorrow. This image should get the project by until a custom installer is producedn and will likely be the alpha. Come back and grab an iso tomorrow and install it in a virtual machine or on a spare computer or USB key to give it a try.
The DistrOS Multiboot System is a suite of projects which are used together to create multiboot installations on usb keys, hard drives, and of virtual machines. The projects which comprise the DistrOS Multiboot suite at this time are:
DistrOS Meta4s, the equivalent of the DistrOS repository. http://meta4s.sf.net
DistrOS /boot/horn, the "portable" version of DistrOS that can be installed and used with most linux distros. This version formerly had ISO images based on TinyCore Linux, but basically installs in /boot/horn and has no specific OS requirement. However, I found TinyCore lacking in some crucial respects and decided it would be easier to build my own ISO than to work with them. The ISO Images currently on this project will be removed soon, as they are basically useless at this point anyway based on changes made for the alpha release coming up. http://boothorn.sf.net... read more
