I'm thinking about starting doing a DirectShow wrapper for dirac and was just looking quickly into what I'd need to get this going and some of the first things I'll need are
1) A four CC code to use as the compression type on the media type. I'd suggest it looked like 'DIRC' in the file. This will allow the use of Dirac in
2) A media type GUID, I can generate these but any other directshow wrappers should use the same value. This value should also be used on the output of the splitter filter.
Any thoughts on the best way of getting this sort of thing agreed?

I would be tempted. Its not yet a reserved FOURCC for AVIs:

Given MS's stance on open source, this would take the BBC to rgister the fourcc.
As for Quicktime, I am not sure. At the same time it would seem that the Dirac team wants their own container format.
