#18 Powerpoint slides showing blank

I have a new install of the version 3.5 VMware appliance and DimDIm is up and running.
However, Powerpoint slides are just showing as blank pages. I get no error message on screen.
There are no instructions saying I need to configure anything on the server for this.

I should mention that the ppt uploads OK, says its converting but all the slides are blank when presenting.
Also , exactly the same happens when uploading a pdf
