I am not sure if i got the issue. Had you installed KDE or any desktop environment on this vmware image? If so, do you have Firefox on this desktop environment?

Alternatively, you can access from some other machine within your network as well.

Let us know if this helps.

Having the same issue.  Downloaded the vmware image and Firefox will not work.  Also have an issue with the IP being forwarded to a different IP when I try to access the server.

the firefox issue is not only in VMWare. first i thought it only happens on VMWare.

i downloaded and using CentOS 5.2 (final). it was a clean install on a new machine. i managed to install Dimdim4.5 also.

everything was running smoothly until this morning. i booted up the pc and found out that i couldn't start Firefox.

running from the Terminal, it says 'Couldn't load XPCOM'.

      anybody.. any idea?

I downloaded the VMWare Appliance, and ran it in the VMWare player.

I see the same issue with trying to load firefox (Couldn't load XPCOM.)

I see the web page trying to redirect to another server (

It looks like someone added a few files to the config before the release.

I'm not familiar with this web-server.  Can someone look at the VMWare Package?

I think I figured it out.

one of the libs is not on the path

         add /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9pre/ to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH

         firefox works

    • Nobody/Anonymous

      Actually, replace LD_LIBRARY_PATH with /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9pre/

just adding it to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH didn't work.

         I wrote a "work-around-script"

         export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9pre/
         /usr/bin/firefox &

and put it in the /usr/local/dimdim/bin directory (listed 1st in the $PATH)

/usr/local/dimdim/bin wasn't initially there, so I had to add it.

      Good Luck,

Now that firefox "works", I am getting re-directed to the following: action?flag=z1llisl

      Any ideas?

You will need to run the located in /usr/local/dimdim

There is some info about it in the readme in the VM folder.
