for open edition, do we need adobe flash media server to broadcast in video and audio or does it connect to dimdim's media server like the hosted editions?
For beta 3.5 software appliance image, when it comes time to upgrade to a newer version will it be easy to upgrade and will it upgrade all the other applications like lighttpd while upgrading dimdim? Does the linux version do this as well?
red5 is the open source flash server and you do not need Adobe anything (except maybe the flash player on your client)
Linux has lighttpd as a separate install, handled by the admin or via the package manager of the OS. DimDim controls the config files in a separate tree from normal lighttpd configs.
