Dear DIGImend users and devs, We are a couple of Ubuntu users who are super glad that DIGImend is supporting our new Yiynova (UC-Logic / Huion ) tablet monitor - Thanks to you all ! We wrote to Nikolai earlier this week, he thought it might be useful to contact people on this list with our GUI prototype. My apologies if this subject is irrelevant to you. Would anyone with multiple monitor (extended desktop) setup be willing to test our config app with their pen tablet or touch device? Maybe tell us if it is useful to them, or if there are some missing features? To try it out just follow the instructions on http://wenhsinjen.github.io/ptxconf/ Also, if some software devs out there are interested to help us out with coding then that would be REALLY good. This project should work OK on debian based distros, not sure about others yet. But also it is only really in the Proof Of Concept stage, a pure mock-up. For example, the application does not talk directly to the xserver but invokes the command line apps xrandr and xinput. This is not portable we know... We hope that if this kind of app is useful to others then we might improve the code to be more portable across all linux/xwindows platforms, preferably merge it with xrestrict, which talks to x11 and xinput directly. Basically our Ubuntu 14.04 only supports GUI configuration of "Wacom (TM)" pointing devices. It seems the Wacom config rejects our Yiynova/UC-Logic/Huion type tablet. So we were forced to set xinput transformation matrices by hand or in bash scripts that we wrote. However, problem was we regularly adjust our monitor placements and setup, sometimes plugging in a TV and so on... So we decided to started this small project for adjusting the pen/touch controll graphically. Please try it out if you also share our interest in using extended desktop with your device. All the best, Hrob and Linda thorsteinssonh and wenhsinjen on github. |
