Now, I see that the out-of-tree driver is not being used, but the stock one is
being used instead.

We'll need to figure out why.

Could you please send the contents of /var/log/syslog after plugging the
tablet in? After that, please try to reinstall the driver and send whatever
output you get on the terminal during that.
