sorry I did not try your source file yet, actually I wanted to figure out
what it is first. Mainly: I do not see a point in using some outdated version
that just works by accident. So was going to contact Nick and hopefully he
will find some time to shed light on the matter.

Imho we should be reporitng bugs against the latest master head,
after all we want the fixed and working version of the driver to get into
the mainline kernel.

What you are writing below basically confirms my experience, so it was working
for you only because you were using this "special" version of the driver and
I'd be interested to hear from Nick what exactly this version was (i.e.
some special debug version for trying things out, some hack for Huion, etc.).
