Nick, I may have found an indication of the cause of the problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers again, and watched the messages. The attachment shows a screenshot of the 'make' and 'make install'. In the install there are two 'Can't read private key' statements. Searching the net indicates that it is a problem with 'make', but I don't understand enough to correct it.
