It would be good to try both on Windows and another Linux PC, if you can.
We've seen both faulty tablets and USB host controllers / cabling in the past.

These steps look fine to me.

Could you please send the "evtest" output for your tablet while doing the "pen
coords" sample from our diagnostics page [1]? Please disregard the usbhid-dump
command mentioned there for now.
