OK, that has the Jason's fix then.  What was happening is when folks did a:
    xsetwacom set <device name> Button 1 1
they were breaking things.  There is no reason to ever run that since
it is the driver default, but still it shouldn't break things.  It
turned out in a variable renaming one of the button release functions
didn't get the variable renamed.  Oops.
