I never thought I say this and may God forgive me - but... Can't we do it the way Rational Rose (RR) does it? If I'm not mistaken the endpoint names in the diagrams is what makes Rose give the reference variables the name. So if you give the role name "whatever" then the code will look like: MyClass whatever = new MyClass(); Or? I haven't been sitting in RR for a couple of weeks now - so I might be wrong in this case.
