The problem is the following: assume I sit somewhere and the tracker is configured in a way that it does not record new position when you do not move. The following happens: I take a picture, at a position that was already recorded but the time stamp of the picture is 10 minutes later. DG would say: no appropriate point in track found. It would be nice to have in addition to the offset between picture and track the following: a time window within which a picture is considere to belong to a position with an older/younger time stamp. Today in the morning I took a picture from our hotel but cannot geotag it because I only started the tracker several minutes later.

What is the current time window under which a picture is considered to belong to a track point?

There will be a problem with the time stamp: a picture that was taken at a position that was recorded 20 minutes before must not change its time stamp by 20 minutes. Only by the specified offset between pictures and tracks (if any is given)

Thanks for considering this! :-)

Currently only photos that are taken between points in a track will be geocoded.

We could have a setting along the lines of:

"Also geocode photos that were taken between tracks if they were taken within X minutes of the start/end of a track"

Is that the sort of thing you mean?

Yes, that´s what I mean. Instead of minutes, better use the same selection box as for the time offset where you can give hours, minutes, seconds.

My tracker makes a new track every 64 points. Usually I set it the way that it records one point every five seconds. I think I have already seen the following error: some pictures where not tagged. Maybe that´s because they are just between two tracks in the 5 secnds slot. Not sure, because I´m still experimenting.

This behavior of making tracks with 64 points, can this be changed? Maybe a firmware update. It´s not reasonable.

With respect to pictures´ time stamps, it should be like this: take the time when the picture was taken and add the offset that was specified (can of course be negativ). Definitely it must not be the time of the neighboring point record in a track.

    Thanks, Thomas

The problem of starting a new track after every 64 points can be solved by enabling Smart Track Generation in the track settings dialog.
