I have had a problem with "Access violation" errors, and recorded them, and a comment about what I was doing to try and spot a pattern. It always occurs immediately after a mouse click and then some action. I also downloaded the latest 2.1.6.27 in the hope they had "gone away". Sadly not.
Each error and a note as to what I was doing below:
Windows Vista
Version 2.1.6.27
Access violation at address 00740049 Write of address 06D75CC8. After mouse click to move cursor then type.

Version 2.1.6.28
Access violation at address 006986CD Write of address 00000009. After select blank line with cursor, then press [Del] key to delete line..
p.s. It seems to happen after a couple of hours of working, seldom just after I have loaded up, so a bit random and intermittent.
About settings: Is "Code-folding" unchecked?
(Options / General options / General)
Code folding was checked. I have unchecked to see if things improve.
Sory for the delay getting back -
Yep. Disabling code folding has fixed the issue. Code folding didn't work for me anyway

Hi Jean,
I've seen you opened another ticket [devphp:bugs] #286
I guess you're not using the "code folding" work-in-progress feature, right?
Exact, so we carry on on bug #286, I will explain the context in bug #286
