Internal preview of any web page (with or without php in it) fails silently when Internet Explorer 8 is installed.
The port configured on the internal server makes no difference, both 8080 and 8888 fail.
This applies to version 2.3.x and 2.4.x.

External previews still work OK.

    Weird, weird...

    > Internal preview doesn't work after msie 8 is installed
So seems to be an issue with the internal browser.

    > External preview still working ok
Thanks for that checking. But this means that the internal browser (actually msie8) is working fine.

Well. We have a problem with the internal server (and possibly msie 8) which fails silently - or even doesn't start.

    > ports make no difference, both 8080 and 8888 fail
Once again, thanks for that checking. Sometimes, the sockets used to connect to the internal server are not freed, avoiding further connections. Please, could you try to reboot your machine? (a logout is not enough)

    Because, I installed a fresh ms-windows 5.1.2600 xp/sp3, with a msie 8.0.6001.18702 + Dev-PHP 2.4.0.330 + PiGii 2.0.1.012.standard + a small doc.html containing:
    <html><body>Hello World!</body></html>

And sorry about that, but it worked for me.

    Best regards,
    Pierre.

OK - I have nailed it: This issue is not with dev-php at all, but with my php installation. I have an extension php-blenc enabled, and this works OK through normal PHP5 Apache 2 dll. It however DOES NOT work when using the cli (php-cgi.exe). As soon as I comment this extension out, the internal preview works brilliantly!

Sorry to waste your time, and regards, Dirk

So how do do I close this request? (seeing that I logged it)

as an aside, it might be good for the internal browser to throw some errors or messages to the screen or php log file. (probably not php log file as the issue is that php is not starting)

Nobody can do that (since Nobody opened the request :)
Actually, I can close it too - but we'll wait a little.

    > it might be good to throw some messages...
The only applicable message is "timeout".
At the moment, I can't explain why it didn't appear.

    > Sorry to waste your time
Instead, your "nail" will save time for many of us. I added it to the Tips (you know, that ugly little window at startup)

    Best regards,
    Pierre.

I think it's time to close that thread.
    Thanks.
