Devmon was running under hobbit user, which can read the file no problem. The cron the read bb-hosts was installed in the hobbit crontab. I've since moved things around so root runs Devmon and the root crontab contains '/usr/local/devmon/devmon --readbbhosts'. I still get the "Unable to read" error, even though I can read and write the file ok. I've also tried both commenting out BBHOST in devmon.cfg so that it defaults, and specifying the path absolutely. Both have the same effect. I've got to say I'm a little stumped as to where the "unable to" message is generated because the user can read the file without error ... ?
