Try to run devmon by hand ./devmon -vv -f --readbbhosts and check the
output.<br>

the file ok. I've also tried both commenting out BBHOST in devmon.cfg so
that it defaults, and specifying the path absolutely. Both have the same
effect.
I've got to say I'm a little stumped as to where the "unable to" message
is generated because the user can read the file without error ... ?

It could be a access problem. Check that the devmon user can
open the file.
