What I do is put four @ signs in the description of the interface and  
then ignore any ifAlias containing those 4 @ signs.  Example:

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
    description @@@@ To RTR13
    ...

I will post the template exception if you want. I'm don't have access  
to my server at the moment.
