=20 I have created a template for the NetScaler 9000. One of the things that would be nice is to present the file systems in the same manner as disk usage from a system. I need to specify "TABLE:" in message to get the information from a branch. (unless someone knows a different way) However, what I need is a nonhtml format without the ":". That way I can use the message file to present the data just like a normal hobbit client report.=20 Thank you, Tom |

Oops! After comparing the new svn repo with my templates, I just realized that the 3550 template that I included as mine was actually one that Schwimmer had written. My apologies for any confusion (though I haven't seen any feedback about the other ones yet). simeon berkley wrote: > I've tried to post these to the list using my original list subscription email without success, so I've resorted to using another subscription. I've just added the Dell PowerEdge templates I've been testing for a while. We created a template a while back for a Cisco FWSM ... so far it looks to use the same OIDs as yours for the PIX. We didn't have a test for failover status, but we have an if_stat (mainly informational, so we know the interface names the firewall team uses). The test names we have are conns, cpu, freemem (not sure why I didn't make it just 'mem',if_stat. Is there a reason to use different names than the standard Hobbit names? We are graphing connections on our conns test (using my version of the extra-rrd.pl). I would really like to have CPU utilisation and memory graphs as well. sysdescr for the FWSM is: SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Cisco Firewall Services Module Version 3.1(4) I have attached the templates I created for our FWSM, let's discuss the differences, and agree if we should use one template for both pix and FWSM. I've added the APC and IBM RSA2 templates. Thanks. Regards, Buchan |

I've avoided using 'builtin' names just to avoid confusion. However, if you use
one of the 'builtin' names like 'memory' -and- the message that you send to the
status channel is in the same format as what the builtin would send, hobbit will
create the expected rrd's and use the same graph definitions.
I've only done this when the builtin column wasn't enabled at the same time (not
sure what would happen in that case). This also works if there's an existing
NCV-style data definition in hobbit{graph,server}.cfg.

Cool. I'll have a look and see if they're compatible and do a comparison.

Here are some additional details. If we can get a TABLE with nohtml and
no ":" then I can use the standard "disk" column in Hobbit to graph by
setting the message file to output and look like a normal disk column in
Hobbit.=20
The problem is that I don't know any way to display branch data without
a "TABLE:"
Here is the oids file:
NSDiskName : .1.3.6.1.4.1.5951.4.1.1.41.8.1.1 : branch
NSDiskSize : .1.3.6.1.4.1.5951.4.1.1.41.8.1.2 : branch
NSDiskAvail : .1.3.6.1.4.1.5951.4.1.1.41.8.1.3 : branch
NSDiskUsed : .1.3.6.1.4.1.5951.4.1.1.41.8.1.4 : branch
NSDiskPerUse : .1.3.6.1.4.1.5951.4.1.1.41.8.1.5 : branch
Here is the message file:
TABLE:
Filesystem|Size|Used|Available|Percent Used =20
{NSDiskName}|{NSDiskSize} MB|{NSDiskUsed} MB|{NSDiskAvail}
MB|{NSDiskPerUse.color} {NSDiskPerUse}%
View source from the test (currently called fs, as the disk test does
not pick up the values properly).

Can you provide your messages file, and the format of the data that
devmon is=20
sending (from view->source on the hobbit page for the test)?

I tried it like this, by adding a "plain" option for TABLE (see attached patch
against current svn), however this doesn't do what we need, as Hobbit expects
exact spacing. I'll see if it is easy enough to run it through a printf
instead (and, maybe change the option name, or add another one), so that we
can easily format the output.
(I'm currently testing against a WRT45GL running OpenWRT, which, until I get
hobbit built for OpenWRT, would benefit from a template like this).

If changes have been made to bb-hosts, devmon needs to be run with the --readbbhosts option to update the hosts.db file. It may be convenient to automate this. All of this is covered in the docs (INSTALLATION). > In the devmon.cfg file there are several entries related to a > database. I typically run devmon as the 'devmon' user, and configure it to log to /var/log/devmon/devmon.log, and create /var/log/devmon such that the 'devmon' user has write access to /var/log/devmon. > Devmon is running each five minutes from a cron as adviced in > the doco and each time it runs, I get a message like this > [08-01-11@11:20:42] Could not query device: myUPS_name_here You mean you are running devmon with the --readbbhosts option according to item 5 in INSTALLATION ? > I know is a lot, but if someone could show me the light would be > appreciated. I have been going through the documentation with no luck :-( You can run devmon with --readbbhosts --debug to get more information. Regards, Buchan |

Hi, I'm having trouble pulling the values (mainly temperature) from a Sentry CDU power distro unit and storing in a rrd file for graphing. I've got two temp sensors plugged in (intake and exhaust) but it appears these two sensors use the same OID (enterprises.1718.3.2.5.1.6), but the first sensor has index / instance? number of 1.1, and the second one has 1.2 . I can get the values to display on the status page of the devmon test as a table, and can get them from snmpget. I did have them inputting into .rrd and was able to graph the data, but whenever the temperature changed it seemed to generate another .rrd, the result being multiple graphs showing "flatline" dot / dash values of the temps at 22, 22.5, 23 etc. Is it possible to simply give the two sensors different mnenomics in the template/oids file such as: intakeTemp : enterprises.1718.3.2.5.1.6.1.1 : ???????? exhaustTemp : enterprises.1718.3.2.5.1.6.1.2 : ???????? to use them in the message file to generate the.rrd and if so, what do I put in the ???????? section? I've tried branch and leaf, but get the 'No snmp data for oid' error in devmon.log and devmon-scan.log with branch and 'oid is a non-repeater' error with leaf. The docs Transform section says something about the INDEX transform but doesn't give an example of its usage. The .rrd generator in templates/message is (off the top of my head): <!-- DEVMON RRD temperature 00 DS:TempValue:temperature(.*):GAUGE:600:0:U --> where TempValue is the result of a MATH transform of /10:1 on tempHumidSensorTempValue (which is enterprises.1718.3.2.5.1.6). The graph definition is the [temp] one in hobbitgraph.cfg, with the .rrd and ds0 substituted with temperature and TempValue. thanks in advance, Geoff |

Guy's, I have the xymon.apache.conf file in the /etc/httpd/conf.d folder and can access the default page and see the status on my laptop. If I try and click on any of the links other that static html I get the below errors in the apache logs. I installed 4.3.7 from source onto Centos 6.2 with Apache 2.2 if that makes any difference. I couldn''t find a repo with it in. [Sun Jan 15 10:09:52 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] (13)Permission denied: exec of '/usr/lib/xymon/cgi-bin/svcstatus.sh' failed, referer: http://localhost/xymon/ [Sun Jan 15 10:09:52 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Premature end of script headers: svcstatus.sh, referer: http://localhost/xymon/ Im sure its something blindingly obviouse if you undersand linux and apache, but I dont to any great level. Thanks, Ian. |

Restart Apache? Does httpd.conf look in conf.d for extra config? Probably an selinux issue, you may have to set appropriate file contexts on the CGI scripts. Note: this seems like an issue that has absolutely nothing to do with devmon, you get better replies on the Xymon list. Regards, Buchan |
