The DCHP server sends all the right stuff to everbody, cause it works find on the windows boxes. I can "ping myhost" from otherhost (windows) and it properly adds the .localnet, the DNS resolves, and everything is happy. But the DL box seems to not know it's own domain, the display in alt-f9 (or is it 10?) which show the top monitor lists the host in the uppper right as "myhost.(none)". So what would cause that? Does the hosts file affect that??? It's set in config also. > >> If just one NIC is installed, must it be eth0? Yes, once I installed the eth0 nic and allowed it to load on boot it was happy. eth0 is not fully configure nor is it plugged in. I guess I was confused on the choice, I saw a "2 NIC" and "3 NIC" firewall choice in the menu, but not anything for "1 NIC/Not firewall" so I though maybe there were some built-in restrictions on eth0. Since it's only running as a Samba server for my LAN (at least for now), I didn't want eth0 being firewalled or NAT'd etc. |
