CONFIG_HEARTBEAT
  Heartbeat provides a heartbeat and IP address takeover functions for a 
  high-availability Linux cluster. It monitors the members of the cluster 
  and tells you when one goes down within a few seconds. The current version 
  runs over serial ports and UDP broadcast/multicast. It is easily adapted to 
  different interconnect media and protocols. It also will re-allocate IP 
  addresses and other resources to other members of the cluster when a machine 
  goes down, and move them back when it comes back up.
