This email is to inform you about the release of version '7.1.6' of 'sysstat' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/sysstat/ The changes in this release are as follows: New virtual memory paging metrics have been added to sar (option -B). Options -x and -X have been removed from sar (use the pidstat(1) command instead.) NR_CPUS has been increased to 16384 so that sysstat can be used on very large systems. A bug in sadc.c where it was using a hardcoded 256 char buffer to store lines read from /proc/interrupts has been fixed. sar has been updated to avoid overflow when computing some average values. Release focus: 5 - Major feature enhancements Project added: Fri, Jul 30th 1999 18:13 (7 years, 11 months ago) Project description: The sysstat package contains the sar, sadf, iostat, and mpstat commands for Linux. The sar command collects and reports system activity information. The information collected by sar can be saved in a file in a binary format for future inspection. The statistics reported by sar concern I/O transfer rates, paging activity, process-related activites, interrupts, network activity, memory and swap space utilization, CPU utilization, kernel activities, and TTY statistics, among others. The sadf command may be used to display data collected by sar in various formats (XML, database-friendly, etc.). The iostat command reports CPU statistics and I/O statistics for tty devices and disks. The pidstat command reports statistics for Linux tasks (processes). The mpstat command reports global and per-processor statistics. Both UP and SMP machines are fully supported. Sysstat has support for hotplug CPUs and for National Language (NLS).
