This email is to inform you about the release of version '1.4.6' of 'The
GNU Privacy Guard' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful

The changes in this release are as follows:
A serious and exploitable bug in processing encrypted packages, as
reported in CVE-2006-6235, was fixed. A buffer overflow as reported
in CVE-2006-6169 was fixed. A bug while decrypting certain compressed
and encrypted messages was fixed. The option --s2k-count was added to
set the number of times passphrase mangling is repeated. The option
--passphrase-repeat was added to set the number of times to prompt
for a new passphrase to be repeated. The license was adjusted with
regards to helper programs indirectly linked to OpenSSL.

Project description:
GnuPG (the GNU Privacy Guard or GPG) is GNU's tool for secure
communication and data storage. It can be used to encrypt data and to
create digital signatures. It includes an advanced key management
facility and is compliant with the proposed OpenPGP Internet standard
as described in RFC2440. As such, it is meant to be compatible with
PGP from NAI, Inc. Because it does not use any patented algorithms,
it can be used without any restrictions.
