[Devil-Linux-discuss] VIA C3 issues

I have acquired a VIA C3 and mboard for testing purposes and am having
some weird problems:

its a C3 800A Ezra on a Soyo SY-7VEM Pro board
It starts falling apart when it unpacks the packages on boot:
bzip2 gives a corrupted file error. it does not seem to happen on gzip
files. 
bzip2: Data integrity error

then:
/linuxrc: dev/console: No such file or directory
Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!
the second problem is probably a result of the first...

I built 0.5 DL for i486 with a C3 kernel, then for an i586, then i486
with an i486 kernel. all the same results. all boot fine on a P2. 
however, the C3 machine boots the redhat 7.2 boot CD fine.

this is a shame b/c the C3 runs cool and is low power - the power supply
on the box is only 100W

anybody running a C3 successfully?
