Thanks Heiko, I think you are right about the problem being to do with pam.d, but I have tried a lot of settings for file /etc/pam.d/samba but I still have (different) authentication failures. The other files in /etc/pam.d all seem to have individual settings and I have tried lots of them! Does anyone have pam.d settings which can work for SWAT login under DL 1.4?
