Dear freshmeat.net subscriber, rrioux just announced version 2.8.5.2 of Snort on freshmeat.net. The changes are as follows: Improvements were made to HTTP Inspect for the handling of pipelined requests and chunked encodings. The documentation for output plugins and log limits was updated. Building on AIX 6 was fixed. Reloading of auto-iface variables when privileges had been dropped was fixed. Issues with startup and perfstats rotation with old versions of libc (2.2, 2.3) and Linux threads were fixed. Project description: Snort is a network intrusion detection and prevention system. It is the most widely deployed technology of its kind in the world. It performs detection using a variety of methods including rules-based detection, anomaly detection, and heuristic analysis of network traffic. Its rules language is open source and available to the public as well.
