Dear freshmeat.net subscriber, rrioux just announced version 2.8.5 of Snort on freshmeat.net. The changes are as follows: This release introduces the ability to specify multiple configurations (snort.conf and everything it includes), bound either by VLAN ID or IP address, continued inspection of traffic while reloading a configuration, rate-based attack prevention for connection attempts and concurrent connections, improved rule/event filtering, an SSH preprocessor, and performance improvements in various places. Project description: Snort is a network intrusion detection and prevention system. It is the most widely deployed technology of its kind in the world.
