we can implement the following logic:

if the host system is DL to use DL's grub
if the host system is not DL to use grub from the host system.
It's not an elegant but should work (if the host system doesn't use grub2).

Another option is to try elf sections of grub binary modification during the
installation.

What do you think?

Maurizio, could you please install DL on usb/hdd from DL which is loaded as a
Live-CD ? It's proven way to install DL on usb/hdd.
