Hi Moray, afaik you can set the image read-only by changing the permission of the floppy file itself.
But I'm not sure you can do it via the VC GUI, you might need either console access on the ESX hosts or SSH to the console. Note that default install does not allow root to SSH to the ESX server.

We're still working on virtualising our DL boxes. We wondered if for
greater security there is any way of mounting a Vmware disk image as
read-only that any of you use? Preferably in the VC GUI!
