[Devil-Linux-discuss] vgcreate problems

Hey all,
    I'm having a heck of a time trying to creating a LVM volume group within the physical volume I setup as /dev/hdc1.....  it says physical volume successful, but then when I type pvdisplay it says "no physical volume indentifier on "/dev/hdc1".  How do I create a LVM volume group named "devil-linux"?  Also, can anyone tell I'm a newb?  ha!
