2) there's a postfix data_dir (or something like that) setting we could point to /var/spool/postfix, which may be mounted on a disk. The data_dir = /var/spool/postfix works in my system (which has a hard drive for the spool but I don't see a problem with a lock being lost through a reboot). Doing a cursory check on the net it seems that some TLS session data goes there too. Again probably OK to loose on reboot. Sorry fo the Outlook reply.
