Thanks for your response, I have set eth1 to the 192.168.1.1. I have a couple of questions. 1. That address is obviously the same as my router? 2. Do I need to turn off DHCP on the router? 3. Why must I use a crossover cable from eth1 if I choose to go directly into my pc for testing purposes? 4. Does the crossover cable go from eth1 into the WAN port of the router? I realize some of these questions may seem quite silly, but I am quite new to all of this. Thanks again. > Date: Sun, 13 Jul 2008 22:24:11 +0000> From: sag...@gm...> To: dev...@li...> Subject: Re: [Devil-Linux-discuss] Basic setup issues.> > I'm a newbie, but I'll put in my 2 cents.> > I needed to set the IP address from setup eth1 Configuration menut> to 192.168.1.1 (I believe the default is 192.168.1.255 or .254).> For me, XP seemed to need this value; I think linux is more robust.> The WRT54G may be sensitive.> > Can you connect one of your Vista or XP machines directly> to the DL box?
